Sammy's birthday month

 On Sammy's birthday we went over to our friend's house and had a birthday dinner and ice cream pie.  We love our friends, The McKee's, and it was nice of them to open their home for us to party at.
On Monday Sam got to share some birthday treats with his pre-school class.

Then a week later grandma and aunt Marci and our Hite cousins came to visit us in Vernal and came with gifts.  We had such a fun time showing the cousins what Vernal had to offer.  We went to the pool and to the bounce house place and to seven 11.  My nieces and nephew thought that Vernal was the best place!

Happy 2nd Birthday Quinn!!!

 Quinn loved this bear from his Aunt Mandi soooo much...until he opened the next present.

  My mom is a very smart and talented woman!  She made sure Sammy had something to open up on Quinn's birthday.  Thanks Mom!  The boys LOVE their capes--I love their capes.  I love, in the above picture, the pose Sammy is in.  He's showing his cape off to Jared.

 Quinny's saying "car, car..."  This present was a big hit too!

We had a party that night with some of Quinn and Sam's friends, as well as some people from Jared's work.  We all had a great time!  Thank you EVERYBODY!  We have a wonderful group of family and friends.  We love you all!

1st day of pres-school

My baby is growing up!?!  Sammy looks so old in this picture!  This was the best shot I could get of his first day of school.  I was chasing him around with the camera and then I started to get mad so he paused for 2 seconds so I could take his picture.  He told me it hurt his eyes when I took it and then he told me to put the camera away.  He's so bossy!  He had a fun first day though--he didn't want to leave so we made a scene getting back to the car--he was kicking and screaming the whole way.  When I asked him what they did in school he told me they painted.  Sammy is very excited to go back again.  I just hope Wednesday we have a better picking-up experience.

my second quilt!

 This was such a fun pattern to work with!  But putting it together was a little complicated at first.

 

 And this particular pattern would look so different just by using different colors and prints, I think.

 I tried to show some of the quilting with this picture. 

 I really loved how it turned out!

Sammy loved it too.  He wanted to go to sleep once it was on his bed!
Practice makes perfect.  I'm definitely NOT saying this quilt is perfect, but there is certainly something to be said for experience.

A short hike in Dry Fork Canyon

We had such a fun morning on Saturday, being together and spending time outside.  Our kids have such a fun time in the outdoors!  We all enjoy being outside--I know that we were all meant to be together.  And this has been a busy summer for Jared at work, so it was extra nice for me to spend a day with my boys.

 

 

 

 The hat Quinn is wearing in the picture, Jared had bought at a yard sale that morning.  Any hat, both the boys see they have to put on, and then they start saying Woody's lines from the Toy Story movies.  Me and Jared thought it was hilarious that Quinn was walking around with the hat so low on his head and then we realized that he could see through the mesh!  You can see his little eyes looking through the hat.  What a smart and silly boy we have.

 And Sammy doesn't smile for the camera too often so I had to post this picture because it is such a rarity!
